Nobody looks forward to summertime as much as the kids – either because they have a summer camp with loads of fun activities or want to play in the pool with their friends.
Sadly, the sudden onset of the coronavirus means that summer won’t be the same. But don’t let your child get upset over it!—plan your own summer and make it better by doing it Montessori style!
At Centerra Ranch Montessori School, our Montessori education teaches children an array of social, developmental, and motor skills through activities. These may seem tedious and unfruitful to adults, but in reality, they help the children cultivate their creative skills and become independent.
Here’s how you can incorporate some of our Montessori activities into your toddlers’ life so that their summer doesn’t seem too dull!
Beads On A String
This will improve your child’s ability to concentrate and improve their motor skills.
Gather a few large wooden beads and cords that can easily fit through them. Knot the end of the cord to prevent the beads from falling out and let the child put beads on the string as a fun evening activity.
Sand And Water Play
This activity will help your child tap into their artistic and creative skills.
Set up a sandpit outdoors. Use a few household items and containers to carry the sand and water. Let your child create sand structures and shapes, or just splash around in the muddy water.
Plan A Scavenger Hunt
A fun way to get your child moving and get in some exercise for the body and their brain is through a scavenger hunt.
Hide a few items inside your house or in the backyard. Leave clues behind and have your toddler go around the house, trying to locate these items for a fun reward at the end. The activity will also help your child comprehend directions and hone their motor skills.
